Frequently Asked Questions

What testing is required to sell medical cannabis in Mississippi?+
Mississippi requires potency, pesticide, microbial, heavy metals, mycotoxin, and residual solvent testing (where applicable) before products can be sold to dispensaries. Foreign matter and water activity testing are also required for certain product types. All testing must be performed by a state-licensed laboratory.
Who regulates cannabis testing in Mississippi?+
The Mississippi Department of Health oversees the Mississippi Medical Cannabis Program, including laboratory licensing and testing requirements.
What is ISO 17025 and why does it matter?+
ISO/IEC 17025 is the international standard for testing and calibration laboratories. It demonstrates that a lab operates a quality management system, is technically competent, and produces valid results. Accreditation is granted by an independent body — ours is PJLA.
How long does testing take?+
Typical turnaround is 4–7 business days from sample receipt. Turnaround can vary with submission volume. Contact us if you have a time-sensitive need.
What is a Certificate of Analysis (COA)?+
A COA is the official report documenting the results of all tests performed on your sample. It includes cannabinoid potency, contaminant screening results, and pass/fail determinations against state limits. You’ll receive your COA electronically when testing is complete.
What is final-form testing?+
Mississippi requires that compliance testing be performed on the final form of the product — the version that will be sold to patients. This includes finished flower, packaged concentrates, and infused products. Testing intermediate material does not satisfy the compliance requirement.
How is turnaround time calculated?+
Turnaround time is measured in business days from the date we receive and log your sample, not from the date you ship it. Standard turnaround is 4–7 business days. If a retest is required, the clock resets from the new sample receipt date.
Are terpene tests required for compliance?+
No. Under current MMCP guidance, terpene profiling is classified as R&D/optional. It’s not required for product release but is useful for product differentiation, label claims, and marketing.
